We want our Donors to understand where their money is going, and the impact it is making. Together we will make a huge difference in these women's lives. Kanima BeckNEW!
Kanima Beck is a single mother of 1. She is a full time student attending COD pursing a AA degree in Natural Science and Biology. Her long term goal is to attend UCR in pursuit of obtaining a BS in teaching. Kanima is passionate about perserving our environemnt in Coachella Valley. Kanima is looking to work for the Coachella Reserve or The Living Desert. Kanima has recently survived a horrific accident and is now even more passionate about her education and career goals. In addition to going to school full time and raising her daughter Kanima volunteers at FlowBox, a cirque performance arts and teaching center group for young people. They work with Cup of Happy safe house by hosting fundraising events. Read More |

Breanne Brewer
Breanne is a 26 year old single mother of 2 daughters and a son. She is a full time student at COD and has recently applied for the nursing program. Breanne’s longer term goal is to obtain a BS so she can become a registered nurse. Breanne works full time as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. She is very passionate about her career goals. She is determined to create a non-profit retirement home for the elderly who may need a positive, lovely, warm home. Toni Brown
Toni is a 26 year old single mother of an 8 year old son. She is currently a full time student at COD completing her prerequisites so she can apply for COD’s nursing program. She plans to get an AS in nursing with a longer term goal of attending CSUSB to become a registered nurse. When not attending school full time or working, she volunteers at the ABC recovery center in Indio. Toni is very interested in helping her community. She is currently working in the field as a medical assistant. Nancy Cornicelli
Nancy is a single mother of 3 boys, 7, 8 and 11. Nancy’s 7 year old was a rescue adoption when he was 1. Nancy currently attends COD full time to complete her general education classes and receive an AA with the long term goal to transfer to CSUSB to obtain her bachelor degree in nutrition. Nancy career goal is to work at a local hospital as a nutritionist. Nancy currently works as an assistant in a nursing home. Nancy has overcome many obstacles in her life yet she continues to stay focused and clear about what she wants to do. One of the things that Nancy has learned is to know the difference between want and need. At the end of the interview Nancy wanted to make sure we knew that she would be a good investment. Paola is married and has a 1 year old daughter and lives in Indio. She is a part time student attending COD with plans to transfer to CSUSB in 2013. Paola is in pursuit of a teaching credential. She wants to be a history teacher and believes she can make history fun to learn. Paola has learned that letting go of things that are not important and focusing on things that are important helps her stay focused on her education and family. Jenna Floyd is a single mother currently attending the International School of Beauty. She is a full time student and will receive her cosmetology certificate in the fall of 2013. Jenna hopes to some day own her own business. Her goal is to become the best stylist and beauty technician. Stacy Forshaw
Stacy is a single mother of a son and daughter from Sequim, Washington. She is a full-time student at Peninsula College in Port Angeles pursuing her degree in nursing. Stacy is currently maintaining a 3.67 GPA. Stacy has been working on the Jamestown Health Facility for the past 5 years as a medical assistant. While it is not totally clear to Stacy which nursing field she wants to work in, she has a lot of passion around children’s issues. When her husband of 20 years walked out on her she has dedicated her life to never feeling helpless again. She knew her options were clear. She could either live her life by default, constantly managing crisis or live her life by design. Stacy is very driven and disciplined; these traits have helped her manage school and a full-time job. Lorena Giron is a 26 year old single woman living in Indio. She is currently attending COD as a full time student. She is the first generation in her family to attend college. Her goals are to receive and AS and then later transfer to Cal State to get a BS in Criminal Justice. She is also interested in the paralegal field. Currently attending College Of The Desert, Lynn is in her second semester working towards her AS in Administration of Justice. She is a single mother of a 14-year-old son. She spent 14 years working with the Superior Court of Riverside County and realized that she really wanted more out of life. Veronica Rochin
Veronica is a married woman with a 6 year old daughter who lives in Indio. She is currently a full time student attending CSUSB in pursuit of a BS in Psychology with the longer term goal of getting her masters. She will graduate with her BS in 2013. She is the first generation in her family to attend college. Veronica’s husband is unable to work due to having multiple sclerosis and she also cares for her 15 year old brother. She has been employed for the past 6 years as a respite worker for United Cerebral Palsy Center. Veronica is a fighter and will do whatever it takes for her to make a better living for her family. Kelli Roma
Kelli Roma, of Cathedral City, CA, is a full-time student at COD taking classes to pursue a degree in nursing. Kelli wants to work as a surgical nurse specializing in smile surgery for children. Kelli and her husband have two children ages six and three.

Adriana Rosas is a 35 year old single mother of 5, including 2 foster daughters. Adriana and her children live in La Quinta. Adriana is the first generation in her family to attend college.
