Saks Fifth Avenue
Dennis is VP/ General Manager at Saks Fifth Avenue in Palm Desert. He was born and raised in Southern California. Long time seasonal resident of Palm Springs, but very happy to now call the Coachella Valley his permanent home. He has a long time career in high end fashion with 15 years of luxury retail experience. Dennis is active in the community with local causes such as The Living Desert, Desert Aids Project, Human Rights Campaign and Animal Samaritans. During his free time he enjoys hiking local trails around the valley, dinning at our amazing local restaurants, enjoying family time and spending time with his two West Highland Terriers, named Georgia and Bentley.
Grocery Store Owner & Property Manager
Having grown up in the Coachella Valley and attended La Quinta High School, DAHER HALUM is a desert native. Over the years, he and his family have owned several local grocery stores. Daher is also a property manager for desert area vacation rentals. In his free time, he likes to play golf and try new restaurants.
Born in Detroit, KEVIN HENRY had two loves: cars and music. He attended the University of Michigan and Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music. Upon moving to Palm Springs, Kevin performed with his mother, Ce Ce Green. He founded the band Total Eclipse which later became Savoir Faire and played at The Palace in Hollywood. Kevin has also studied with jazz legend Earl Klugh, backed Robert Palmer and toured the world with Jumpstreet. Kevin and his wife, Dodi of 32 years raised 3 sons while Kevin pursued his music career and Dodi worked in the restaurant business. In 2010, they purchased The Nest, which they have transformed into an award-winning hotspot.
Splash House / Goldenvoice
TYLER MC LEAN is the producer of Splash House, a renowned summer music festival hosted in Palm Springs. Having grown up in the desert, Tyler graduated from Palm Springs High School in 2009. He went on to earn a B.A. in Communications and Political Science from UCLA. After college, he returned to the Coachella Valley to create an event with his family that now, in partnership with Goldenvoice, enters its sixth year and draws over 15,000 fans each summer.
Wilson Meade Commercial, Inc
MICHAEL MEADE specializes in investment sales and commercial leasing throughout the Coachella Valley and has completed in excess of $1B in commercial transactions. He co-founded Desert Rock Development and is currently developing a $300M industrial park. Wanting to set a new standard in commercial brokerage services, Michael partnered with Scott Wilson to establish Wilson Meade Commercial, Inc. and hopes to franchise their agent profit-sharing model worldwide. Michael’s professionalism, market knowledge, and dedication to his clients have resulted in a continued increase in market share and client satisfaction. Michael married his high school sweetheart and have two wonderful children. He enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Snow Skiing and is an Enthusiastic mountain biker.
Franklin Loan Center
WALTER NEIL is President & CEO of Franklin Loan Center, the largest independent mortgage banking firm in the Coachella Valley. Personalized expert service is a hallmark of Walter’s commitment to the community and, as a leader in the field, he frequently provides seminars to local real estate and builder communities. Walter has led Franklin through tremendous growth and plans to expand service to clients in more states and regions. Walter graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is married with three beautiful children which keep him and his wife very busy.
GOPI SANGHA is the Director of Digital at Goldenvoice, organizer of the world-renowned Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. He began his romance with the Coachella Valley in 2006 when his friends from U.C. Riverside brought him to Indio for all-night punk rock shows. Gopi honed his craft as a promoter and attended Coachella as a fan. In 2010, he joined Goldenvoice and has been involved with other popular festivals, such as, Desert Trip, Stagecoach, Tachevah, Splash House, and Day Club Palm Springs. Gopi spends his time relaxing and performing community outreach throughout the Coachella Valley.
Nothing Bundt Cakes
A native Californian, JEFF TROPPLE grew up in Orange County before relocating to the desert with his family in 1979. With over 30 years of experience in the food & hospitality industry, he holds an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from College of the Desert and completed his pre-apprenticeship training program at the Desert Institute of Cuisine. Jeff’s entrepreneurial and culinary pursuits took him to northern California where he owned and operated a 5-star fine-dining restaurant as its Executive Chef for 16 years. Today as co-owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes he resides in La Quinta with his girlfriend and co-owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes, Ellie Koch, their dogs, and their desert tortoise.
Hugh Van Horn
Pacific Union Financial
With over 15 years in the mortgage business, HUGH VAN HORN prides himself on his ability to put creative mortgage deals together for his clients. He is currently Branch Manager for Pacific Union Financial in La Quinta, Chair of the Riverside County Parks & Open Spaces Advisory Commission, and a Commissioner for La Quinta’s Community Services Commission. He grew up in Southwest Riverside County, and currently lives in La Quinta. Prior to his mortgage career, he performed in various theaters and theme parks around Southern California mainly as a tap dancer and is still passionate about the arts. Today he spends a lot of time at the soccer park with his three children who are all little soccer stars.

RYAN WILSON received his B.S. in Lotion Mixology from the Las Vegas School of Sunblock. After a successful career as a trapeze performer, Ryan began his study of pool party culture at the world-famous Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas where he landed the coveted job of towel boy. Multi-tasking to the extreme, all while shaking ice-cold shots of tequila, Ryan soon received a promotion and was lauded 7 times as Top Cabana Boy. He also assists successful families make wise financial decisions as their advisor with RBC Wealth Management, serves on two local charity boards, and sits on an organizing committee for the Southwestern Growers Golf Tournament.

Dirk Alton, Big Kahuna 2017
Best Beverage Catering
Dirk started Best Beverage Catering in 1990 when he saw an opportunity to fill a needed role in the Bay Area events scene. Many event professionals were successful, but lacked the ability to be completely full-service. Primarily, BBC is an industry partner who is able to skillfully and legally provide beverage service, catering and concession services for private and public events. Dirk’s entrepreneurial skills still show today, as he continues to expand the parameters of BBC. His reaches have now expanded into venue management and large-scale concession services for the music and sporting industries, most notably Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival since 2001 and Super Bowl since 2003. Dirk is married to Amy and has two college age daughters Sarah and Katherine.
Dave was born in Santa Barbara but raised in the Desert and graduated from Palm Springs High School. Dave has been in the car business since he was 21 and opened his own repair shop, Ball Automotive, nine years ago. he recently opened a second shop in Cathedral City. Dave says he likes to go to the gym which helps to keep the stress out of his life. The rest of his free time he spends coaching his son in various sports. Dave is married to Kim.
Born in Iowa, Brad always wanted to be a pilot since he was a young kid. His mother was a single parent and she pushed him to follow his dreams which he fulfilled in 2008. He thanks her for his success. Brad graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2006 with a Marketing Degree and pursued multiple sales & marketing positions in private aviation. He landed his dream job at Desert Jet Center opening a brand new $5 million facility at the Thermal Airport. He is active in aviation as the current Flying Ambassador for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. He flies every chance he gets around the Coachella Valley, to and from Los Angeles and San Diego, and to the river in the summer. Outside aviation, Brad enjoys long walks on the beach, dancing, finding new places to eat, craft beer, traveling with friends, and taking out-of-towners to the Tram. He is looking to become a new dog owner, and his favorite place in the world is Exuma, Bahamas.
Brian graduated from Pacific Palisades High School in Los Angeles in 1995. He subsequently relocated to the beautiful Desert of Southern California to pursue a communications career. Currently the Promotions Director of Alpha Media in Palm Springs, he can also be heard weeknights 7 p.m. to midnight on The Desert‘s Best Mix – Mix 100.5. He is no stranger to the Red Carpet and social scene, frequently seen covering the most talked about events in town. When the “ON-AIR” light is off, he enjoys playing sports, traveling, dining out with friends and watching The Bachelor on ABC.
David J Hayek
David formed Healthflex and joined the Direct Response Marketing business in 1999 after spending ten years as Hewlett-Packard’s Strategic Alliance Manager for Microsoft Global Support operations. David played an instrumental role in growing Hewlett-Packard’s outsourced Worldwide support services organization. To this day, he remains one of the first registered Microsoft Certified Developers and is extended full HP alumni benefits for his contributions to the company. David’s entrepreneurial spirit drives the global marketing of his products and others in over 120 countries and territories around the world. David currently serves as CTO of reality TV Production house, Real Entertainment. He is also COO of CBD product development house Life Bloom Organics, Inc.
Dr. Kazmouz is an interventional cardiologist who has been in practice in the Coachella Valley for 16 years. After completing his fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology in Michigan, he relocated to the Palm Springs area in 2001 where he runs a very busy practice. He has affiliations with all three of our desert hospitals. He has been married for nearly 15 years to the love of his life, Dallas. They are blessed with three boys. Dr Kazmouz enjoys lots of activities outside medicine including sports, landscaping and architecture as well as spending time at the beach and shopping.
Statewide Services Inc.
Oscar has more than eight years as a private general contractor. He is a partner with Statewide Services Inc. engaged in new construction, construction management, tenant improvement construction, re-model construction, and architecture. Oscar has provided construction and entitlement work with various private developers, contractors, sub-contractors, city & county offices. In his spare time, Oscar is a board member of the local Boys and Girls Club of America. His personal accomplishments are being inducted to Indio Hall of Fame in 2005, Captain of National Champions in 2005/2006, Grand Marshall for National Date Festival in 2007, and a member of 16-0 undefeated regular season NFL football team, the New England Patriots in 2008. Oscar has two daughters, Bella Alyssa age 7 and Addysen Riley age 6 and is engaged to Jacqueline Rocha.
Spotlight 29 Casino & Tortoise Rock Casino
Robert is the Director of Community Affairs at Spotlight 29. He is responsible for community outreach, donations and sponsorships that are put before review and consideration by a donation committee. Robert is also a board member for Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation and Native American Land Conservancy. Robert has been in Tribal Gaming since 1993 and he previously served in the capacities as Table Games Director, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager. He feels it has always been an honor to work with Spotlight 29 Casino and its owners the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. Robert is an Army veteran who served from 1987 to 1991. In 1991 he was deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He enjoys spending time with family.
Rick Post, Jr. CFP® has over 17 years of experience working closely with clients and their families. Rick prides himself on the personalized service he gives to each client and focuses in uncovering client needs through the use of a highly consultative approach. Rick received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on finance in 1993. Directly after graduating college, Rick joined AG Edwards where he achieved Vice President status. He is currently a Senior Vice President- Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch. In Rick’s free time, he can be found coaching youth soccer and flag football, as well as spending time with his wife, Leanne and kids, Ricky III and Reese.
Mark J Smith, Ph.D.
Dr. Smith has a Masters in Exercise & Sport Science and a Doctorate in Physiology. Since 1988, he has worked with Dr. Loren Cordain, the world’s leading expert on Paleolithic nutrition, and is now a writer for, and on the editorial board of, thepaleodiet.com. As a leading authority on the benefits of supra-maximal interval training, he instructs for the Titleist Performance Institute and is also a member of their Advisory Board. In addition to “weekend warriors”, he works with professional athletes, including the current women’s world number three golfer, In Gee Chun. He maintains his practice at Mission Hills CC
Next Level Fitness
Gerry was born and raised in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and moved to the Desert in 2004. He is the proud owner of Next Level Fitness with locations in Palm Desert and La Quinta. In 2010, Gerry created Fit in 42 helping thousands of residents create healthy, new habits. Fit in 42 is now licensed in over 25 gyms throughout the world. His goal is to create more Studio Gyms in the Coachella Valley that make creating healthy lifestyle fun and sustainable. In his spare time, Gerry enjoys playing with his 14-year-old Lab, Nikos, spending time with his beautiful wife while staying active in the desert.

Greg Rubino, Big Kahuna 2016
Greg arrived in the desert eleven years ago to open the Classic Club as its director of golf, assuming the position of general manager within the first year after having lived in such locales as Fiji, London, San Antonio, Sarasota, Pittsburgh and Tucson during his career with Troon Golf. He works closely with the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation and sits on the board of the Patrick Warburton Golf for Kids tournament, which he helped start. He jokes that his passions are “wine, watches, and wheels,” with wine as his special love, but also treasures his ability to travel the world.
With over 25 years of experience in a Senior Marketing and Creative Director role, Raphael has developed award-winning sales and marketing strategies for multinational corporations including Costco, the San Diego Padres, the San Diego Chargers, Quiksilver, DC Shoes, and Billabong. For the past 10 years, he has applied his knowledge of sales and marketing to the real estate sector, obtaining and managing a large residential portfolio. With over 47 years here in the Coachella Valley Raphael is as much a hometown boy as it gets.
The Hemmingway Group
Wesley is the President of The Hemmingway Group, a business consulting firm specializing in start-ups. He also serves as a Director with WRCI, an asset management company focused on foreign direct investment from the Pacific Rim for Fortune 500 companies. Previously, Wesley served as the COO for CVEP and also VP for a regional Development Group. Prior to moving to the Palm Springs area he served as Director of Operations for an international defense contractor. He earned a BS in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration while serving 11 years in the Marine Corps.
Vincent is Founder, CEO and President of Renova Solar and has dedicated his life to advancing sustainability in the built environment. Renova Solar was honored as “America’s First Professionally Accredited Solar Company” in 2012, SunPower Corporation’s “Dealer of the Year” for 2014, and Best of the Valley in 2015 and 2016. Author of the book “Cut the Cord: How to Achieve Energy Independence by Joining the Solar-Powered Microgrid Revolution”, Vincent is committed to ensuring that Renova maintains the highest level of service and solar savings for its residential and business customers.
Dr. Bruce Chisholm
Dr. Chisholm obtained his first doctorate from Dalhousie University and his medical degree from Louisiana State University, graduating first in his class in both programs. He completed maxillofacial surgery training at LSU/UMKC and general/plastic surgery at USF. Dr. Chisholm limits his practice to plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. His philosophy is to artistically restore a patient’s natural appearance. He has been performing facelifts and plastic surgery for the past 20 years and has been on staff at Eisenhower Medical Center, Department of Surgery, for the past 12 years.
John Patrick Dolan

John Patrick Dolan is President and CEO of the California Desert Trial Academy College of Law located in Indio. CDTA College of Law’s mission is to educate, train, and develop extraordinary legal advocates. With courtroom experience since 1978 as a California Criminal Trial Lawyer, Dolan has handled everything from traffic tickets to death penalty murder cases. He is a recognized California State Bar Certified Specialist in Criminal Law and a true courtroom and communications veteran, appearing frequently as a legal news analyst on KMIR, Fox News, MSNBC and Court TV.
Party With BB
If you love a good party, you most likely have heard of BB, and most certainly have attended one of his monster parties such as his Annual Halloween Bash and New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball which draw anywhere from 1,000 to over 5,000 attendees. BB has taken his love for creating events into a career that has spanned over 30 years in the Coachella Valley. His legendary events have earned him the Master of Events and Godfather of Parties titles as well as Coachella Valley Weekly’s “Promoter of the Year” award three times.
Chris is the Founder and CEO of Desert Alarm. Originally from Amman, Jordan, he came to America in 1985 and settled here in the desert in 1990. Desert Alarm has served over 19,000 local customers and is the only alarm company in the desert that provides complete security with 24 hour armed response, monitoring, surveillance and home automation from the touch of a device. Using the latest technology and innovative design they are the leading company in the Coachella Valley and the largest in the Inland Empire with 45 employees.
Palm Springs Life
Michael is the President and Co-Founder of MATHEWS/SEGOVIA, bringing three decades of experience in sponsorship sales, client account management, public relations, advertising, sales promotion strategic planning and retail merchandising to his clients. For the past nine years Michael has served as the Marketing Director, and currently Director of Community Relations and Events for Palm Springs Life magazine. In the event arena, he is one of three executives who plan and execute Fashion Week El Paseo, Palm Desert Food & Wine and the Palm Springs Life Festival.
David is the General Sales Manager and National Sales Manager for Alpha Media. He has worked in advertising sales in both radio and television his entire career including, locally, Sales Manager at KEZN-FM, Director of Sales for Morris Desert Media, and local Sales Manager for CBS-TV as well as positions in Buffalo, San Diego and Hawaii. Originally from Buffalo, New York, he raised a son as a single father in the Desert after serving time in the Marine Corp. He has a degree in Criminal Justice, loves sports and was assistant football coach at College of the Desert.
Roman is a Partner with Anderholt Whittaker LLP, a boutique business, real estate and estate planning law firm in Palm Desert, California. He spent nearly a decade with Best Best & Krieger LLP before founding Anderholt Whittaker LLP with J.John Anderholt in order to provide more cost effective services to his clients. Roman’s practice focuses on all facets of business, corporate and real estate matters, from business start-ups to contract negotiation and drafting to partnership disputes and litigation.
